The holiday that’s nearly free: How to get to Barcelona for just £1

THIS transport deal will take you to the Spanish sunshine for less than a cup of coffee.

Spaceships Campervan Rentals has been run off its… wheels.
The hire company has sent backpackers into a spin with one incredibly cheap offer.

If you’re up for a spontaneous European holiday and you don’t want to touch the bank, let alone break it, this is the method of transport for you.
Right now you can rent a campervan that’s bound for Barcelona at the cost of just £1 per day.

Or maybe you’d prefer a thrifty trip to Rome for the same price.
And forget paying for fuel - a whole tank and the ferry cost is on the house.
But there is one catch. You have to pick your van up and drop it off within a certain timeframe.

If you’re heading to Barcelona for instance, you’ll have to grab your car in London by today and drop it off in Barcelona by mid next week.
The Spaceships offer is part of a fleet relocation to cater to the demands of peak season.

“We stock up in the summer so in the winter we have about 80 in the fleet - right now we've got about 150,” said Rieke Lange from Spaceships Campervan Rentals.

“We think it's a good opportunity for people. We can help them, they can help us.”

And while backpackers are obvious contenders, the demand is much more varied.

“We've got all kinds of customers. Families with 1-year-old babies, retired people travelling, people doing amazing road trips, anyone from 21 to 75,” Rieke said.

The Voyager Camper is the most popular for the relocation deal, which in high season can cost up to £70 per day.

So you can spend the £69 you’ve saved on four jugs of sangria or the somewhat more logical plane trip back.

If you’re willing to spend a few pounds more, there are regular deals to Dublin or Edinburgh for just £5 a day.

A lot of the offers are selling out fast but the end of August will see a whole new round released.

So keep your eyes peeled for deals and throw your budget out the window for your next European break.
